CHAPTER 37: Halloween in Wonderland

Hey everyone!
We have a "just for fun" post today here in Wonderland that doesn't follow a book excerpt or poem...just a good ol' fashioned HALLOWEEN theme!
Well, tomorrow is Halloween and it's time to showcase some fun projects, and many of us are using the Graphic 45 special line of papers, Halloween in Wonderland!
We really hope you enjoy our projects today and that you feel like playing along!  Today our VERY generous DT member Ky is offering up a set of Alice stamps by Elaine Cox!
This week I decided to make a box in a bag with Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland papers. I am going to fill it with candy and give to my Sweetie for Halloween. He LOVES candy!! Lol! You can find a tutorial for the box in a bag on Splitcoaststampers in the resource section here.

Well, it's time to get ghoulish here in Wonderland!  Play along with us using the InLinkz on the Oh,Alice Blog, and you have until Friday, November 5th at 8pm CST to do so!  We can't WAIT to see your fang-tastic Halloween creations, everyone ;)  Good luck and thanks for tuning in, as always!

Check out the rest of the DT's creations!
Enjoy!

The Ocean Calls...

Happy Thursday!

I think I have finally gotten grounded after my trip to North Carolina last weekend. Bill and I went up to visit with another professional bowler in Huntersville. It has been several years since we have had to drive through Atlanta and I am just amazed at the traffic. Eight lanes on just one side and bumper to bumper! I posted on facebook as we came through (Bill was driving...lol!) and made the statement that I would take my trip across the Pensacola Bay three mile bridge with the Gulf view any day!!

We had a great time and got to see the beautiful colors of the trees in the mountains, BUT, I am a Florida girl and "The Ocean Called" me back!

My card today is one that I made for the VSN, Summertime in the Land I Love. The challenge~ to make a card depicting the nature that you love. I LOVE the beach!

This is one of my favorite stamp sets from Mark's Finest Papers.
Enjoy!
Stamps: MFP Tropical Vacation
Paper: MFP Tan Line and Corn Husk, SU Old Olive
Ink: Old Olive, Soft Suede
Accessories: Twine, Spellbinders Mega Curved Rectangle and Labels 4

CHAPTER 36: CHESS - CHESSBOARD - CHESSMEN

"They don't keep this room so tidy as the other,' Alice thought to herself, as she noticed several of the chessmen down in the hearth among the cinders: but in another moment, with a little `Oh!' of surprise, she was down on her hands and knees watching them. The chessmen were walking about, two and two!

`Here are the Red King and the Red Queen,' Alice said (in a whisper, for fear of frightening them), `and there are the White King and the White Queen sitting on the edge of the shovel -- and here are two castles walking arm in arm..."

--Ch. 1: Through the Looking Glass

The challenge this week is again the brainchild of DT member Lynne-to use some aspect of the game of chess! You might want to use a checkerboard pattern, or feature a King, Queen, Knight or Castle (Rook), or some other aspect of the game we haven't thought of - we just need to be able to clearly see CHESS in your creation!

We are THRILLED to announce that there's a prize this week, too! Thanks to our generous sponsor, PAPER MANIAC, this week, they are giving away a set of Artistic Outpost Alice in Wonderland mini-stamps AND a sheet of E.A.D. Designs Stickerz! How awesome is that?

For my card today, I used a checkerboard pattern paper to meet the challenge. I started with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #96. The image is from the GinaK stamp set Fanciful Fall illustrated by Theresa Momber. I used Close to Cocoa and Old Olive Markers on the image and then huffed and stamped. This technique give a soft almost watercolored look to the image. All of the edges were sponged with Memento Rich Cocoa. I gave up some of my beautiful brown pearls for this card. I have been hoarding them! lol!

Checkmate! Have YOU met your match? You have until FRIDAY, October 29th to enter your creation and throw your hat (or should I say, crown?) in the ring for this awesome PAPER MANIAC prize this week! We'll announce the winner on the Oh,Alice Blog during our next challenge!

Check out what the rest of the Design Team has created!

A Tuesday Trigger MoJo

****Edited to Add****
I was so excited to see that my card was picked as one of the winners for the Trigger Target challenge!!

Happy Sunday! Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!

I had the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger bookmarked and decided to make a card using the inspiration photo. Cath's blog post was titled "Languish in Luxurious". Here is the pic...

I am such a "literal" person when it comes to interpretation. Kind of "What I see, is what you get". I did take an art class in college and did learn to look at pictures and paintings with a different "eye" but I forget to use it a lot of times. Lol!

When I saw this picture, I was drawn to the wallpaper, the chair and the pink flowers. Just so happens that I have a damask background stamp and a chair stamp by Flourishes that met with my literal interpretation perfectly. And the colors!! Oh how I love shades of blue-green. Reminds me of the beautiful colors of the water in the Gulf of Mexico near where I live!

So...out came the stamp sets and Copics. I decided to use this weeks MoJo Monday Sketch #160 for the layout. I flipped the sketch vertical and left off the buttons and parenthesis panel.

Here is my card....Is it luxurious enough? lol!

Supplies:

Stamps: Flourishes Chairs for You and Damask Background
Paper: Flourishes Classic White, Black, Bermuda Bay
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa and Bermuda Bay
Other: Ribbon, Kaiser Pearls,Morocco Lace Border Punch
Copics: BG0000, BG10, BG13, Eoo, E31, E35, C00

Enjoy!

CHAPTER 35: Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Wonderland's Door

"Alice laughed so much at this, that she had to run back into the wood for fear of their hearing her; and when she next peeped out the Fish-Footman was gone, and the other was sitting on the ground near the door, staring stupidly up into the sky.
Alice went timidly up to the door, and knocked.

`There's no sort of use in knocking,' said the Footman, `and that for two reasons. First, because I'm on the same side of the door as you are; secondly, because they're making such a noise inside, no one could possibly hear you.' And certainly there was a most extraordinary noise going on within--a constant howling and sneezing, and every now and then a great crash, as if a dish or kettle had been broken to pieces.

`Please, then,' said Alice, `how am I to get in?' ~Chapter 6, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Hey everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Wonderland and we are BACK with another challenge!
Have you ever felt like Alice? Not sure which door, window, or keyhole will be opened or closed next? Not sure which direction you're going but curiouser and curiouser about them all?

What a PERFECT opportunity to explore some new avenues, and walk through new doors we bring you at Oh, ALice this week. Thats right! Your challenge this week is to create a card or project using a Door, Gate, or Keyhole. Now, you can also get creative and do a gatefold technique, etc. As long as we can see it's a "Gatefold" or that there is a door, gate, or keyhole somewhere on your project! How FUN is this?

For my card today I decided to do a Gate Fold Card. This is the card closed. The button medallion has a magnet on the back to hold the flaps closed. The orange and black layers are felt cut with a Spellbinders scalloped circle die.

This is the card open. Isn't that little witch just adorable!! She is colored with Copics and cut out. The little bats on the fence are colored with a black marker and then coated with black atYou Spica. I never used the black before and it is awesome and oh so glittery! The paper on the inside is Cosmo Cricket Matilda.

Here is a close up of Halloween Birgitta from All That Scraps.

The best part? There's no time limit to play this week, so have fun and here's to opening lots of new doors in the future!

Check out all the wonderful creations by the rest of the Design Team!

Enjoy!

The Details are Sketchy.....

Ahhhh...Wednesday!! Probably my favorite day of the week these days! Mondays are Mondays...Fridays are just like Mondays....Tuesday, I am recuperating from Monday....and Thursday, I am preparing for Friday! Lol! Bowling went well this weekend. I won the Women's Singles and Bill won the Men's Singles!! Woot Woot! I loved the sketch for the Flourishes challenge, "The Details are Sketchy" and once again pulled out my favorite Halloween Stamp set to make my card. Just can't get enough of Flourishes Witching You a Happy Halloween! Ever get a stamp set that you loved each and every stamp, and used them too? This would be the one! Here is the sketch...
I stamped the pumpkins on Flourishes Classic White cardstock, colored them with Copics, then cut them out. They are popped up on a white Spellbinders oval that is sponged around the edges with Lovely Lilac ink. The DP is K&Co. Halloween Whimsy.
Copics Used: Y17, YR04, YR07, G21, G24, G28, atYou Spica Lemon Enjoy!

Cheers To You!

Good Morning!

Another weekend is here and a busy one for the two of us in this household! The Pensacola Senior Championship Bowling Tournament is running this weekend and Bill and I are both bowling. We bowled mixed doubles together today. Sitting in second place, only because my doubles partner for tomorrow bowled a perfect 300 with her husband today!! Gotta love her!

My card today is one that I did for the last SCS Virtual Stamp Night~ Summertime In The Land We Love. The challenge was to depict a favorite summer pastime and use a crimping tool. I also included the following SCS Dare To Get Dirty challenges with my card~
In Touch With  Texture
Strut Your Stuff
Rainy's Sketch
All Stitched Up
Anything But Average

Well I have several summer pastimes...going to the beach, reading, bowling.... But one of my all time favorites is having company and spending time on the back patio just relaxing and visiting with a nice cool summer drink.

Speaking of Virtual Stamp Night...we have a mini coming up on Splitcoaststampers this Friday night from 6pm-10pm EST. Come on over and join us for some challenges and a whole lot of fun as we play with the theme "On Cloud Nine". Hope to see you there!

Felt With The Heart

Happy Thursday!
With that title I bet you thought I had another "felt" tree card to show you, didn't you?!! No way! I am not a production oriented stamper/card maker. I am lucky to get two of the same card made. I tend to be a "one of a kind" type of girl!! Lol!

This card was for this past Saturday's SCS Inspiration Challenge~Studio Nommo. I picked one of the three photos on Steph's challenge post for my inspiration. The butterfly one had me immediately going to my Mariposa paper! That paper is all about butterflies!
I kept my card as CAS (clean and simple) as I could. I am taking lessons from one of my Paperdoll friends, vdutcher! The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions Leave A Lasting Impression stamp set.The layout is from this weeks Taylored Expressions #130 with a little "liberal" interpretation. :)

Enjoy!

Christmas MoJo

Good Morning!  Hope you are having a nice weekend!

For us cardmakers there is a lot of activity this weekend with World Cardmaking Day. A lot of challenges going on for the next couple of weeks. Love it!

Bill and I took a drive out to Pensacola Beach to the Art and Wine Festival yesterday. I have been following "Barrier Island Girl" blog for the past couple of years and I knew that she would be selling her beautiful photographs at the festival. I found her stand and it was so much fun to meet her in person and talk about blogging, her picture taking and "turtle watching".  If you get a chance, go check out her blog. Wonderful eye candy!

I promised the last of my "felt tree" cards today, so here you go. The layout on this one is this week's MoJo Monday sketch #158. I chose the round one. The base of the card is cut with a circle scissor and then I punched 1" circles and attached them to the back and covered with another circle.

Stamps: PTI Inside and Out Holiday
Paper: Basic Grey Jovial, Cream, Old Olive
Ink: Old Olive
Accessories: Circle Cutter, Scallop Punch, PTI Tree Die, Felt, Circle Punch, Gold Pearls, Thread

Enjoy!

CHAPTER 33: DICTIONARY of Nonsense

HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!!

Alice didn't dare to argue the point, but went on: `-- and I thought I'd try and find my way to the top of that hill -- '

`When you say "hill,"' the Queen interrupted, `I could show you hills, in comparison with which you'd call that a valley.'
`No, I shouldn't,' said Alice, surprised into contradicting her at last: `a hill can't be a valley, you know. That would be nonsense -- '
The Red Queen shook her head, `You may call it "nonsense" if you like,' she said, ` but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!'

--Ch. 2: Through the Looking Glass
Greetings from Wonderland! Before we commence this week's challenge, LOTS of tea-toasting to our FABULOUS new October Guest at Tea: DONNA BUDZYNSKI! Donna's amazing work caught our eye a while back and we are thrilled to have her joining us! A VERY MERRY unbirthday to you, Donna! WELCOME!

DT member Lynne is challenging us this week is to use TEXT in a NONSENSE way - not to read, but as a pattern in your card. Use a page from an old dictionary or other book, stamp a background text stamp or use a text-patterned paper in your creation. Link up your NEW CREATIONS and the design team will stop by to do some CREATIVE READING as we look at your entries this week!
The Greeting Farm is our SPONSOR this week, and not only are we thrilled to have them again, the prize just got sweeter! There is a RUBBER SINGLE OF CHOICE up for grabs for this challenge AS WELL as the highly-sought after "Wonderland" digital stamp set!

For my card this week I used some new Haunted "Spooky Words" paper by My Mind's Eye. Love the flocking on this paper line! I used The Greeting Farm "CC Monday" stamp. She is just the right amount of sassy for a Halloween card! She is colored with Copics and cut out. The MS Fence border punch is also punched with the MS Ribbon border punch and threaded with some metallic orange ribbon. The purple "fog" floating through was hand cut from paper in the Cosmo Cricket Matilda paper pad and a few rhinestones added for sparkle. The layout is this weeks SCS Sketch Challenge #300.

Nonsense you say? Believe it! You have through Friday, October 8th at 8pm CST to enter to WIN the above prizes! We will announce our lucky winner on Saturday, October 9th with the next challenge at Oh, Alice!

Check out what the players in our twisted tea party have created to inspire you this week~
Good luck to all who enter our little Challenge here in Wonderland!

A Tuesday Sketch on Friday

TGIF!!

How are you doing today? October.....cool crisp air, pumpkins and mums in the stores, Christmas decorations out at Hobby Lobby.....WHAT!.......Yes, they are out! What ever happened to waiting till after Thanksgiving? Lol!

Most of you know that I participate in the Christmas Card Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers. I pledged five cards a month and am loving that when the end of November comes I will have my stash ready to mail out. I usually don't post the cards here on the blog because I like them to be a surprise and after all it is only October 1st!! Anyway....I need to keep up with Hobby Lobby and posting Christmas cards at least two or three times this week will do the trick!

For my card today I used two of the five felt trees I die cut with the PTI tree die. Catching on? Five cards for Sept....five trees....yes I have made three different types of cards with the same felt trees! I did a little machine stitching on each of the trees.  The layout is this week's Mercy's Tuesday Sketch.  I pulled out the gorgeous Jovial paper pad from Basic Grey and used the plaid and deer DP. The tree is mounted on a cream panel cut with a Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Oval. A few buttons and gold half pearls finish the card.

See you back here Saturday for the Oh, Alice Challenge and on Sunday I will have another version of the felt trees for you using the MoJo Monday Sketch.

Enjoy!
