CHAPTER 32: Journey to the Center of the Earth...

Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end!

"I wonder how many miles I've fallen by this time?' she said aloud. `I must be getting somewhere near the centre of the earth. Let me see: that would be four thousand miles down, I think--'"

(for, you see, Alice had learnt several things of this sort in her lessons in the schoolroom, and though this was not a very good opportunity for showing off her knowledge, as there was no one to listen to her, still it was good practice to say it over)

"yes, that's about the right distance--but then I wonder what Latitude or Longitude I've got to?' (Alice had no idea what Latitude was, or Longitude either, but thought they were nice grand words to say.)...

Hello from DOWN the RABBIT HOLE today, everyone! It's Jen here bringing you this week's challenge

Now it's time to really fall down the rabbit HOLE this week with this challenge! Your task if you wish to accept it is to create a card with a WINDOW or HOLE in the card!

For my card  I made a window card using a technique I saw on YouTube this week. I tried to keep the card clean and simple (CAS). The "window" is cut out using a Spellbinders Label 1 die. Then I added a white panel on the inside and stamped the cup of tea from the Flourishes Christmas Tea set through the window. The image is colored with Copics and I sponged around the cup with Bashful Blue ink. The sentiment is part of the stamp set. The outside of the card is embossed with a CB snowflake folder. A little ribbon to match the candy cane in the tea cup finishes the card. I actually made four of these cards in various shades of blue. I am trying to catch up on my five card a month obligation for the Christmas Card Challenge over on Splitcoast!

Here is the inside of the card.

So lets take a look at what the design team has created in their fall down the rabbit hole!

Let's Go Camping and Fishing!

It's Wednesday again already? I am amazed at how time flies as you get older!

My card today is one that I did for the last SCS Virtual Stamp Night. The challenge~Let's Go Camping. Rachel tasked us to make a card inspired by going camping.

One of the things our family did a lot of was camping! We lived in Florida and would take weekend trips to different state parks and campgrounds with our neighbors. We swung on ropes over the Suwanee River, we camped on Flagler Beach, spent a lot of time in Disney's Fort Wilderness and also camped in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee outside of Pigeon Forge and Cherokee. The latter memory is the reason I chose the stamp set Bearly Fishin by Our Craft Lounge. When we camped in the Smokies we got to share the campground with a family of bears. They would come and rock our neighbors camper at night trying to find out what was inside!! And you sure could not go camping without a fishing pole! Always found good fishing wherever you went!

My Dad loves the Smoky Mountains and fishing, so this card made it's way to him for his Birthday the end of August.

Speaking of Virtual Stamp Night... There is one coming up November 13th and 14th. There will be a mini VSN on October 15th. The theme..."On Cloud Nine". We are still looking for a few hostesses for the challenges. The VSN's are always fun and there is a new challenge each hour. I hope you will come on over and check it out and maybe make a card or two, or three, or four....

Enjoy!

CHAPTER 31: Fighting for the CROWN

`Why the Lion and the Unicorn, of course,' said the King.
`Fighting for the crown?'

`Yes, to be sure,' said the King: `and the best of the joke is, that it's my crown all the while! Let's run and see them.' And they trotted off, Alice repeating to herself, as she ran, the words of the old song: --

`The Lion and the Unicorn were fighting for the crown:
The Lion beat the Unicorn all round the town.
Some gave them white bread, some gave them brown;
Some gave them plum-cake and drummed them out of town.'

Hey everyone!  We have a wonderful challenge today and a prize at stake from The Mad Hatter herself!    Jessica will be giving away an {Ippity} prize pack of stamps plus a nice array of 6x6 designer paper to ONE lucky winner this week who is "Crowned" by Random.org!

Speaking of crowns, THAT's this week's challenge, brought to you by our very own Twisted Sis Sammi:  Use CROWNS and/or MYTHICAL Creatures on your card or creation today!

For my card I decided to use a pretty little Unicorn by The Greeting Farm. The layout is this weeks Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #91.  The image is colored with Copics and I just had to use some new paper from my "Happy Mail" I received this week~ Cosmo Cricket Pixie-Licious.

Check out some mystic madness brought to you by our Twisted team:

Taylored Expressions Sketch 127

Happy Friday!
I made two of these cards for two Nephews with Birthdays this week. I enjoyed putting these together and used this weeks Taylored Expressions Sketch for the layout. The stamp set is PTI's Enjoy The Ride and the DP is PTI Dotty Biscotti.

I am going to make this post short and sweet as I need to get ready for a trip to Alabama for the weekend. Bill is bowling in a PBA Regional tournament and I am playing cheerleader. Wish him luck!!

See you back here tomorrow!!

Chibi Cake

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a WONDERFUL week!

Isn't this little Chibi just as cute as she can be? She was perfect for the VSN Challenge over on Splitcoast  to do a card/project depicting the foods we love.

The majority of the birthdays in our family are in the summer. Six of them in August alone! So we have a lot of BIRTHDAY CAKE! My Mom is the "Cake Chef" and is famous for two family favorites. One is a devils food cake with whipped cream between layers and frosted with made-from-scratch fudge frosting. The second is an angel food  cake with the inside scooped out and filled and frosted with strawberry bavarian whipped cream.
Yum Yum!

NOTE: I have been experimenting with the size of the pictures in my blog posts. I am having a hard time deciding which size I like best so I have placed a poll in the top right corner for my visitors. Please take a moment to respond and help me decide!!

Stamps: The Greeting Farm Chibi Cake, PTI Signature Greetings
Paper: MME Quite Contrary Summer Papers, Cryogen White
Ink: Black
Accessories: Spellbinders, Ribbon, Copics E00, E000, E31, E25, E29, R43, R24, R000, G20, G40, G82

CHAPTER 30: Hey there, Nice Stems...

Just as Alice said this, she noticed that one of the trees had a door leading right into it. `That's very curious!' she thought. `But everything's curious today. I think I may as well go in at once.' And in she went.

Once more she found herself in the long hall, and close to the little glass table. `Now, I'll manage better this time,' she said to herself, and began by taking the little golden key, and unlocking the door that led into the garden.

Then she went to work nibbling at the mushroom (she had kept a piece of it in her pocked) till she was about a foot high: then she walked down the little passage: and THEN--she found herself at last in the beautiful garden, among the bright flower-beds and the cool fountains..."

Hello out there!  It's a lovely day here in Wonderland and we are celebrating the summer with a nature theme today!  Well, TREES and FLOWERS to be more exact!   We scored a GREAT sketch sponsored by PAGEMAPS today that is just perfect for today's theme:

For my card today I used the My Favorite Things set~ Grow Love, Plant a Tree. I followed the layout of the sketch using papers from My Minds Eye Quite Contrary Summer. Love the little patterns on the paper in this stack! The "hills" are stitched and the tree is paper pieced. The sentiment is from another MFT set Garden of Joy.

Take a look at what the DT did with this amazing sketch:

CHAPTER 29: What makes YOU Shine....or SPARKLE?...

`Why, what are YOUR shoes done with?' said the Gryphon. `I mean, what makes them so shiny?'

Alice looked down at them, and considered a little before she gave her answer. `They're done with blacking, I believe.'

`Boots and shoes under the sea,' the Gryphon went on in a deep voice, `are done with a whiting. Now you know.'

`And what are they made of?' Alice asked in a tone of great curiosity.

`Soles and eels, of course,' the Gryphon replied rather impatiently: `any shrimp could have told you that.'

`If I'd been the whiting,' said Alice, whose thoughts were still running on the song, `I'd have said to the porpoise, "Keep back, please: we don't want YOU with us!"'

`They were obliged to have him with them,' the Mock Turtle said: `no wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.'

`Wouldn't it really?' said Alice in a tone of great surprise.

Hello everyone! We are back for our first challenge of September with some EXCITING news!

Today we are still sad about the departure of some of our friends from our Twisted little table, but we are THRILLED to welcome some new members!

A glistening welcome to CREEPY GLOWBUGG GLORIA and ANDREA MURDOCK! We also are THRILLED to be bringing back EMMA EADS as our faithful "Dormouse"-she'll be around to scope out your creations and leave you some love! Last but not least, welcome to Kellie Winnell as our September Guest Tea Party Member! LOTS going on today! We are thrilled to have these ladies with us and know they will really SHINE!

Speaking of shine...and SPARKLE....we welcome SPARKLE CREATIONS as our sponsor this week! Sparkle is offering a wonderful prize-a $20 credit to the Sparkle Creations store to one random winner this week, IN ADDITION to a coupon code for ALL WHO ENTER this week's contest! How generous is THAT? ON your HONOR, just enter 10OHALICE after you link your card on the Oh, Alice Blog, to enjoy a 10% discount.

For my card today I used Sparkle Creations Surfing Oliver. He and the dolphin are colored with Copics. I added glossy accents to his surfboard. If you click on the picture to make it larger, it shows up better. For the sparkle, I added some Stickles directly on the patterned paper. I tried to find some "hang ten" feet to add to my card but it looks like those darling little feet from the 60's are not easy to find. When I was in high school everything had those feet on them! My notebook, my bookcovers (we used brown bags back then...awesome for drawing and coloring! Lol!), my shorts...just to name a few. Now that I am looking at Oliver, he reminds me of a very good surfer friend I had in high school. Tall, blond windswept hair, and cute, cute, cute!! Good memories, oh yeah!

Remember , you have until FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 10th at 8pm CST to enter this contest! Winner will be posted on Saturday 9/11's post and good luck to all who enter!

Have fun and GET SHIMMERY, SPARKLY and FABULOUS in Wonderland this week!

Check out all the fabulous Design Team creations!

Bon Appetit!

Happy Wednesday! Hope all is well in your world!

For today I wanted to share a card I completed in July for the Splitcoaststampers Dare To Get Dirty Challenges. Each year the Dirty Girls (Design Team Extraordinare!!) host the DTGD challenges for the members of the SCS Fan Club. It runs for several days and each day more challenges get added. If you do all the challenges (I think there were about 32...) you get the honor of being a Queen! This girl will have to stay a Princess because that was way to many challenges for me to complete!! I was able to incorporate six in this one card.

I started out with the TV Dinners Challenge and from there I just kept adding. The TV Dinners challenge was to do a card/project that depicted a favorite tv show. Well, I am not much of a tv watcher but when I do I am on the Food Network checking out some of the famous chefs. My favorite though is the cake contest show. I am truly amazed at some of the cakes they make!

I pulled out an old favorite SU set, Voila!, for my card.
Other DTGD challenges~ All That Glitters, A Piece Offering (Paper Piecing), StamperSharons Sketch,Yellow/Green/Red/Neutrals, and Dies/Punches.

Stamps: SU Viola!
Paper: Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety, Red White
Ink: Black Memento, SU So Saffron
Accessories: Copics R08, R24, C00, C1, N1, N7, 100, E50, Glitter, MFT Die-namics Ric Rac, Buttons, DMC floss
