Chapter 24 - Windows and Broken Glass

`Now tell me, Pat, what's that in the window?'

`Sure, it's an arm, yer honour!' (He pronounced it `arrum.')

`An arm, you goose! Who ever saw one that size? Why, it fills the whole window!'

`Sure, it does, yer honour: but it's an arm for all that.'

`Well, it's got no business there, at any rate: go and take it away!'

There was a long silence after this, and Alice could only hear whispers now and then; such as, `Sure, I don't like it, yer honour, at all, at all!' `Do as I tell you, you coward!' and at last she spread out her hand again, and made another snatch in the air. This time there were TWO little shrieks, and more sounds of broken glass. `What a number of cucumber-frames there must be!' thought Alice. `I wonder what they'll do next! As for pulling me out of the window, I only wish they COULD! I'm sure I don't want to stay in here any longer!'

Hello friends...it's CRYSTAL CLEAR that today you're all joining us for a fabulous challenge here at Oh, Alice!   We have all sorts of lovely techniques for you to try today!

Your mission today with Oh, Alice, should you choose to accept it, is to try a technique using cracked glass, crystal effects (or glossy accents), or a window stamp/technique.  There are TONS of possibilities with today's challenge and we are SO ready to see all of the fabulous creations you enter!

For my card today I used an image from Sweet Pea stamps by Ching-Chou Kuiks called Cheshire Cat Illusion. I thought it would be appropriate to have the "through the looking glass" illusion! The image is colored with Copics and then over stamped with Versamark. Then a layer of Ultra Thick embossing powder was added. I placed the image in the freezer for a few minutes and then took it out and bent the image at different spots to get the crackle. The layout for the card is from the Dare To Get Dirty challenge over on Splitcoaststampers by AmberDawn.

Come on over to the Oh, Alice blog and join in the challenge! Check out all the DT creations!

How's that for SHEER fabulousness?

Enjoy!

End of the Month for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenges!

Happy Tuesday!

I don't know where this month went, but it just flew by!! This is my last post as a Guest Muse for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch. I have had a blast each week with her wonderful sketches!!

For my card today I used the Waltzingmouse set, Very Vintage Labels 4. Everything in this set works with the Spellbinders Labels 4 dies. I received my SU paper swap from Betty last week and picked out the Soft Suede from the Patterns Pack to use for my card. I love to make monochromatic cards, but I have a hard time getting started with them. I always lean to more colorful combinations! There are four different patterned papers on this card. I added a Prima Ballerina Bloom to the front and some pearls colored with a Copic E04 marker. The sentiment is from the PTI Signature Greetings set.

Check out all of Mercy's Muses creations. Such a wonderful bunch of ladies!

CHAPTER 23: Ravens and Writing Desks...

The Hatter opened his eyes very wide on hearing this; but all he said was, "Why is a raven like a writing-desk?"
"Come, we shall have some fun now!" thought Alice. "I'm glad they've begun asking riddles. — I believe I can guess that," she added aloud.
"Do you mean that you think you can find out the answer to it?" said the March Hare.
"Exactly so," said Alice.
"Then you should say what you mean," the March Hare went on.
"I do," Alice hastily replied; "at least--at least I mean what I say--that's the same thing, you know."

Hello everyone!

We are ready to FLY with this week's challenge here at Oh, Alice!

This week, we challenge you to use BIRDS on your card or papercrafting project! We may never know the answer to the riddle above, but while we're pondering that and life's little mysteries we may as well make a great card or two in the process, right?

For my card today I used the Love Birds stamp set from My Favorite Things. The birds are paper pieced and the rest of the image is colored with Copics and atYou Spica pens. The DP is from My Minds Eye Quite Contrary. I picked up one 12x12 sheet at a local scrapbook store , when I was up in Knoxville visiting my Mom. The birds caught our eye and I knew I would eventually find the perfect project to use it on! The layout for my card is this weeks Friday Sketchers #112.

Come on over and join in the challenge at the Oh, Alice Blog! If you upload your creation to a public forum please use OAC23 for a keyword. Want some awesome inspiration? Check out the rest of the Oh, Alice Design Team!

So Sweet Of You!

Happy Tuesday!
It’s time for Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch Challenge and she has a doozie this week! I really enjoyed staring at this sketch and turning and flipping and coming up with something “ out of my ordinary”.  In the end I used the sketch “straight up”!
MTSC83
For my card I used CC Designs Cherry Emma. Isn’t she just the sweetest thing? I love the CC Designs line of stamps!

I colored Cherry Emma with Copics, cut her out and sat her on top of a DP panel from the Cosmo Cricket Early Bird pad. The red and cherry circles were cut using Spellbinders circle dies.  A touch of Crystal Stickles on her pant and shirt edges as well as buttons with floss bows are the finishing touches.
Copics: Skin E50/E51, Cherries R24/R27, Hair E33/E37, Shirt Y32/Y35, Pants BG72

Chapter 22: Dancing Under The Sea...

"Will you walk a little faster?" said the whiting to the snail;
"There's a porpoise right behind us and he's treading on my tail!
See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance!
They are waiting on the shingle, will you come and join the dance?`
Will you, won't you, will you, won't you-WILL you join the dance?"

Hello everyone! Greetings from here in Wonderland...or maybe today it's UNDERland? As in Under the Sea, perhaps ;)

So, today's challenge involves all things sea-worthy and we at Oh, Alice are challenging YOU to create a card or project using sea life! Turtles, whales, dolphins are fabulous as are other sea creatures as in merfolk and those deep, dark creatures you sometimes hear about but seldom see.... the possibilities are as endless as the ocean itself!

We also have a FUN prize for you this week! One lucky winner will receive a Sweet Pea Rubber Stamp courtesy of Oh, Alice! It’s Tuesday, It’s Tuesday!!

Hi Everyone! What a busy summer it has been for me! I am lucky to get two posts done a week.  We have had company coming and going since May with a couple of trips in between. I must get some pictures posted of our adventures!  But for today you will have to settle for a card I made for this weeks Mercy’s Sketch Challenge. I have had the new PTI dies for the On My Couch set for quite some time now and the sketch was perfect for what I wanted to do!

Here is the sketch…

MTSC82

I flipped it over so that the background was a perfect wall for my couch.  The paper is from My Mind’s Eye So Sophie Collection. Just found the MME blog tonight for the first time. WOW! Awesome paper coming out at CHA!

Check out all of Mercy’s Muses creations. What a fabulous bunch of designing ladies!

Have a great week and maybe I will see you back here before Saturday!

Chapter 21~ Breaking All The Rules

"At this moment the King, who had been for some time busily writing in his note-book, cackled out `Silence!' and read out from his book, `Rule Forty-two. ALL PERSONS MORE THAN A MILE HIGH TO LEAVE THE COURT.'
Everybody looked at Alice.
`I'M not a mile high,' said Alice.
`You are,' said the King.
`Nearly two miles high,' added the Queen.
`Well, I shan't go, at any rate,' said Alice: `besides, that's not a regular rule: you invented it just now.'
`It's the oldest rule in the book,' said the King.

`Then it ought to be Number One,' said Alice. "

Hello everyone!

Today we have a fun and rather rebellious challenge for all of you out there in WONDERLAND!   We start out with a lovely sketch by Sammi:OAC21SammiSketch

The catch?  You must RE-CREATE this sketch somehow.   Switch out a panel or two, flip on its side, upside down, etc.  There are no rules except to break them, meaning you can't follow the sketch exactly!  Makes no sense right?  GOOD. :)

Today we also are thrilled to announce another wonderful sponsorship from SPESCH DESIGNER STAMPS!   Thank you so much to Tracey Feeger for allowing the DT to work with your adorable images!   Tracey is offering a prize of a VERY generous $10 Gift Certificate to the Spesch Designer Stamps Store!  Be sure to check out all of her cute designs and be sure to play along this week for your chance to WIN!

Go ahead...BREAK all the rules...you KNOW you want to!

For my card today I used Alice from Spesch Stamps. She is colored with Copics and Stickles. Hope I changed the sketch up enough to meet the “break the rules” rule!!

You have until Friday, July 16th at 8pm CST to enter to win!   Good luck and be sure to link your creation on the Oh,Alice! Blog and use OAC21 if posting to a public forum.   Ta-ta for now all you rebels out there!

Enjoy!

Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge

Happy Tuesday!

This is my first post as a Guest Muse for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge and I am so excited!! Love Mercy's sketches!
We would love to have you participate!

For my card today I used MFT Pure Innocence Stamp, My Balloon. I just love the PI stamps! She is colored with Copics and her dress is paper pieced. The DP is from the Cosmo Cricket DeLovely pack. I cut out some felt flowers and added a glittery button. I see a couple of things I could have done with the card but we made a last minute decision to go to Tennessee to visit family and I was literally grabbing stamp supplies as we were going out the door! I photographed the card on my Mom's back porch. You can see her pretty pink Crepe Myrtles in the background.

Copics Used: B21, RV25 (Dress and Shoes), E50, E51 (Skin), E31, E25, E29 (Hair)

Check out all of the fab creations by the rest of Mercy's Muses!

Have a great day and I will see you back here real soon!

Some News and a Sewing Box Snowman

Happy July 1st!! Can you believe we are halfway through 2010??

My News???
I am the July Guest Muse for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge!! Woot Woot! I just love Mercy's sketches and her Design Team/Muses are fabulouso!!! So come on over each Tuesday and join in the fun!!

I just had to join in this weeks Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! What a fun layout to work with!
I also needed to make five cards for the monthly SCS Christmas Card Challenge. I was able to complete one card out of five.It has been a super busy month with working and traveling.  Oh well.... will make some extra ones next month! This card has a lot of detail, so it took me a little longer to make. Not one that you would put on an assembly line!

I chose the Waltzingmouse set Sewing Box Christmas and stamped the snowman, cut him out and layered on a Spellbinders inverted scallop  panel. I cut four background panels and did a little sewing! The snowflake is punched with a 3/4" circle punch and added to the white and green panel with pop dots.

Have a great day and I will see you Saturday for the Oh, Alice Challenge!
Enjoy!
