It's VCAD Thursday Challenge Time!

Did you know that if you participate in Victoria's weekly challenge, you have the opportunity to be one of the weekly GUEST DESIGNERS? So come on, lets see those creations!!!
This week's challenge is the above sketch. I am a designated "rubber" Design Team Member, and I have a couple of stamps that I still need to do a card or project with. As soon as I saw this week's sketch I knew that it was meant just for the Monster Truck image!
All the coloring is done with Copics. To make the tire, take a circle punch and put halfway onto your paper circle and punch. Move evenly around the circle repeating the punch.

Ready...Set...BLOW!

There was a Mini VSN (Virtual Stamp Night) this past Friday on SCS and I chose one of the five challenges to make a card. VSN's are an awesome way to get outside your comfort zone and create a card in 45 minutes or less! The mini and the big VSN (coming in July/August) theme is about food. The challenge I chose was "Darth Tator Skins". You had to make a card using the colors brown, white, yellow, green and a secret ingredient "red". I had my new MFT Flopsey Birthday set sitting on my table, so he was the chosen culprit for this card.! The first thing I did was put Liquid Applique on the top of the cake and the first layer. This is supposed to dry overnight, but I did not have till in the morning to finish the card. Flopsey and the cake are colored with Copics. I added a K&Co felt flower for the secret ingredient. When I heated the frosting about 35 minutes later, it turned out fabulous!

Supplies: Stamps: MFT Birthday Flopsey Paper: Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, GinaK White Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa Accessories: Copics Y21, R27, E31, E33, RV11, Nestabilities, SU Scallop Border Punch, 1/8 Circle punch, K&Co Felt Flower

Summer Fun

A good friend of mine (Bev) came to visit this past week. She had never been to Gulf Breeze or Pensacola. We had great food, great beach time, but most of all a great visit! We went to the beach Saturday. The water was still a little cool and the seaweed was making its June appearance. But we enjoyed a leisurely float anyway. Isn't the water just beautiful?
While we swam, Bill hung out under the umbrella...

Fathers Day Card and Two Challenges

This is one of the Fathers Day cards I made this year. I used the Mojo Monday Sketch, Week91 and the colors from this weeks Splitcoast Color Combo Challenge CC223~ Baja Breeze, Ruby Red and White.
I do not know the origin of the rubber stamp. I bought the unmounted stamp at a Rubber Stamp show several years ago. I inked it up using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics. The DP is from the Twitterpated Critter Chatter line. It went really well with the Ruby Red and Baja Breeze colors. The Ruby Red panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

The sentiment is computer generated on a SU Label punch and layered on top of another label punch.

Sugar Coating glitter was added to the top of the frosting and Glossy Accents added to the cherry. I hand drew the eyes and lashes. This was such a fun image to work with! Victoria Case Thursday Challenge

Geez...seems like it was last Thursday just yesterday!! Today is VCAD's weekly challenge. This week it is a color challenge using Lavender, Dark Brown and Ivory. I used one of Victoria's new digital releases "The Mermaid" for this weeks card. I wish I had a waist like her!! :) The layout for this card is the Friday Sketchers Week #56 Challenge found here. My sweet little mermaid is colored with Copics. I tried a new technique with her hair as I usually do not shade hair in this manner. Let me know what you think! The background lavender panel is embossed with the Cuttlebug Swirls folder. The ivory panels are embossed with the Bubbles folder. The scalloped ovals are cut with Nestabilities. Come on and join the challenge!! I can't wait to see what creations are made with this color combo.

Copics Used: E00, E11, E31, E37,V12, V15 and V17

Dahlia is a July 4th Superstar!

I attended The Greeting Farm release party (actually three different parties) on Sunday night over at PaperCraft Planet. One of the challenges at one of the parties was to make a card and include stars on the card in some fashion. The giveaway was the new release SuperStar Anya.
When I think of stars these days, July 4th comes to mind, as it is right around the corner. Where did June go??? I pulled out Dahlia, one of the Wild Sprouts, and decided she would be my Fourth of July SuperStar. She is colored with Copics. I added Diamond Dust Glitter to the bottom of her top and atYou Spica red to the flower in her hair for some sparkle. She is layered on a Nestabilitie and Top Note die. The white base card is Bazzil textured paper. Ribbon and stars finish the look.

More Monster Fishing and New Monster Trucks

Yesterday, Victoria Case Designs released Monster Fishing and today it is Monster Trucks!!. Check out her stamp blog for all the new release deets and Design Team ideas.
This is a card I made using Monster Fishing. I masked the stamp image and "colored" the sky with my Copic airbrush and a cloud template. The images were colored with Copics. The grass, fish and water have touches of clear atYou Spica for a glittery reflective affect. The paper is from the CK Scrappin Creations Power Pad. The second layer is embossed with the Cuttlebug Bubbles folder. I added a sentiment from My Favorite Things and finished with some Metallic nailhead stickers.

My final project with the Monster Fishing stamp is a Monster Fish Tales scrapbook album. You know that fisherman have to have a place for all those photos of the fish they caught! (but the bigger one got away.....) Or a young boy/girl would love to have his pictures in an album to look at and remember his/her fishing adventures!

I want to let you know that I got part of my inspiration for this project from Maria Bell's blog. I follow her blog every day. She is such an awesome creative person!!

I found several chipboard album shapes at Michael's in the dollar spot! This one was perfect for my project. All the pages were covered with Basic Grey Marrakech paper. The picture shows only the oranges sides but the opposite sides are shades of blue. I traced the chipboard album on the back of the DP and cut out. Adhered to the chipboard with Elmers glue. All the edges were then sponged with Versamagic Gingerbread ink.

The stamped image is colored with Copics. The sky is chalked using the cloud template. I added Glossy Accents to the jar of worms and the water for dimension. The image was cut out using a Coluzzle circle template. The copper dots are Scribbles Iridescent Copper paint. (Thanks Maria for the idea!!).

New Releases at Victoria Case Designs!

Victoria is rolling out new rubber starting today! She will have new stamps tomorrow and Wednesday as well. They are awesome!! The first release is Monster Fishing. This stamp was so much fun to work with. So much fun in fact that I made two (not one but two!!) projects and a card. The first project I will show you is an Acetate Box. You can find the instructions for these on Splitcoaststampers in the Resources section. I changed the measurements of the box to accommodate the size of the rubber stamp. I recently bought one of Basic Grey's new paper packs, Lime Rickey. With this paper I knew those sour gummy worms that come in scrumptious colors would look really good inside the box!! What Fisherman can resist worms?? The rubber stamp image is colored with Copics and popped up on the top of the box. Instead of a handle I added a couple of ribbon pull tabs with brads. The edges of the paper on the box are punched with a Martha Stewart border punch. Let me know what you think!! Don't forget to go check out Victorias blog and the new releases!

Beach Vacation

I completed this project for two reasons.
1. My daughter, Vanessa, was coming to spend her weeks vacation with me and I know how much she enjoys the beach and pictures. A small scrapbook album of her favorite beach activities was in order.
2. The Greeting Farm was having a Summer Gardner design team call and I wanted to post a submission for their consideration.
One of my goals for 2009 was to use my Pazzles machine. I had purchased it in November of last year when it was on clearance at AC Moore. I found a picture of a scallop page that I liked, re- sized it, vectorized it (another new thing for me...) and began cutting out. I was amazed at this machine just cutting away from a picture on my computer screen!! Absolutely Awesome!!
I used Summer Girl Scrapbook Kit by Me and My Big Ideas to cover the chipboard pages and sponged the edges with metallic gold ink. The spiral binding was done with a Bind It All machine.
Front Cover

The layered flowers are from Prima with a K&Co Adhesive Gem in the center. Beach is spelled out with rub on letters from Scrapworks. "Vacation" is sticker letters I found on my recent trip to Ft. Lauderdale. Ribbons were added on the binding in colors to match the album.

First Pages

Margaritas are a favorite at our house so I brought out Chef Ian and dressed him up in tropical color clothing. He has a Martini on his tray but we can pretend right?? The large drink and little fruit stickers are from the K&Co line Citronella. Yummy!!

Second Pages

Vanessa loves to collect lei's, so Hula Anya was next up in the album. She is colored with Copics and her hair is adorned with silk flowers with rhinestone centers. The white panel behind her is cut with a Label Four Nestabilitie. The pink paper strips are cut with a SU scallop border punch and then pierced. Yellow grosgrain ribbon and bow was added to the top of the strips.

Third Pages

One of Vanessa's desires is to learn how to surf. While she was here she spent a lot of time at a local surf shop! Surfer Ian was perfect for the next pages of the album. He is colored with Copics and popped up on waves that were cut from the paper in the kit. I used an Inkssentials pen on the tips of the waves and added some glitter with an atYou Spica clear pen. The picture frames are all Nestabilitie scallop circles. The lettering is rub-ons from Scrapworks. Isn't Ian just adorable?

Fourth Pages

Mermaid Anya was saved for last in this album. Pictures of the beach and swimming in the ocean will go here. The fish are from The Greeting Farm set Down By The Pond. All are colored with Copics and popped up with pop dots. The felt "seaweed" stickers are from K&Co. The bubbles are Rain Dots from Cloud 9. Mermaid Anya's hair is adorned with rhinestones and she is surrounded by Prima flowers with glittered brad centers. Enjoy!

Victoria Case Weekly Challenge

Wow, it has been a week since I posted last but sometimes family and their well being takes precedence over everything else. Today is the Weekly Challenge on VC Stamp Challenge Blog. It is a Sketch Challenge. I used Victoria's Baking for Kitty digital image for this card. It is such a sweet image especially if you are a cat lover! The image was colored by my daughter and I as she was learning how to use Copic Markers. The DP is from the DCWV Pets Stack. I could not resist using the paper with the fish, to match the fish they are baking! The other items used are Nestabilities, MS Border Punch, Ric Rac and Kaiser Red Pearls. The solid paper is SU Wild Wasabi and Ruby Red.

A Great Combo!.....

The Beach and Flowers!! I love going to the beach and I love looking at beautiful flowers! It is even better when the flowers are growing in your own yard!! We finally had sunshine on Memorial Day and took a drive to Navarre Beach which is about 12 miles from our house going toward Fort Walton Beach. When summer comes, Pensacola Beach becomes quite busy and crowded. Each year they have seen double digit increases in the visitors there. So we usually head in the other direction to Florida's "Best kept secret", Navarre Beach.
It was a beautiful day!!
My daughter and her fiance came in this past Saturday from Tennesse for a visit. While I was waiting for them to arrive, I wandered around the yard (and the next door neighbor's yard....) taking pictures of the new flowers that are blooming. I have two beautiful Hydrangea bushes on the side of the house between the Gardenias, that are now blooming. They are a deep pink, almost purple. Just beautiful!
These Lilies are in my neighbors yard. They stand over six feet high and are just gorgeous!

May Christmas Card Challenge

As usual I was down to the last minute in completing my cards for the SCS Christmas Card Challenge! With all the continual releases of new toys and techniques in the stamping world, do you ever feel overwhelmed and just want to get back to basics? I am thinking I must be at that point because my last card was a CAS (clean and simple) and the one I chose for this challenge is as well. When I first started stamping I would meet up with several ladies once a month to share ideas and to stamp. One of these ladies was Deb Golden. I was always amazed at how she could come up with ideas quickly and her cards always had a certain pizazz. I pulled out one of her sample cards from my stash and decided to case it for my Christmas cards this month. The stamp set is Holiday Hello from SU. I stamped the snowman with a set of trees on each side of him in Glorious Green on a white panel. The panel was then embossed with the CB Swiss Dot EF. I then stamped two more sets of trees and cut them out. They are popped up on each side of the first set of trees and offset down onto the green panel for some depth. A touch of quickie glue and dazzling diamonds finishes the card. Easy peasy!! I made five of these for my monthly quota. I now have 25 Christmas cards completed!

Lasting Friend

This card was for last weeks SCS Featured Stamper Challenge "As Marvin Gaye would sing....." featuring Mercy. Her gallery is just awesome! I chose her card here to case (copy and share everything) The layout is changed a little from Mercy's card as well as the stamps and embellishments. The background is made with a template and chalks or chalk inks sponged in the squares. Then the stars and sentiment are stamped on top. Very easy card to make! No Copics this time around! Recipe: Stamps: Unknown Unmounted Paper: Brocade Blue, Certainly Celery, SU Patterns Pack Ink: Gold Accessories: Template, Chalks, Star Brads, Ribbon
