Dr. Pea-Nut and the SCS Sketch Challenge

This card is for this weeks SCS Sketch Challenge. I started by looking for an image in my stamp sets that were horizontal because the main image on the sketch had that orientation.. I just love this, Our Craft Lounge Image- Pea-Nut! Then I chose some ribbon. From there came the cardstock colors. Pea-Nut is colored with Copics. The grass and sky are chalked. Layers are sponged with Close to Cocoa. A little border of peanuts on the top and bottom finish it off!
Enjoy!!

Stamps: OCL Dr. Pea-Nut Paper: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Bazzil White, GinaK White Ink: Black and Rich Cocoa Memento, Close to Cocoa Accessories: Copics, Chalks, Daubers, Ribbon

Please leave me comments. I would love to know who visits me!

Where Do I Start?!?

It has been a busy week! (what weeks aren't busy?.....) I am looking at my gallery on Splitcoast and see that there are eight cards that I completed this week and can share with you. As for other things this week.... I spent a lot of time at the hospital supporting a friend that had surgery. I bowled a couple of "200" games (not something I have seen much since my foot surgery and moving to Florida!). Spring cleaned the house and getting ready for family that will be visiting this next week. Participated in the Splitcoast VSN (Virtual Stamp Night) challenges (6 of them) today. I was picked to be a VSN Hostess for the upcoming Viva Las VSN's for March, April and May! Whew.....somewhere in there I also worked at my full time job!! I will start with this card. It was for this weeks SCS Color Combo Challenge, "Pretty Kiwi Breezes". Fun colors of Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze. Since the birds are chirping outside big time, I reached for the SU set "A Little Birdie Told Me". This set has so many possibilities. I used the Scallop border punch on all three layers and square scallop Nesties (hmmm....pun there?!?) for the birdie layers. The ribbon is some I found at Hobby Lobby that matches Kiwi Kiss exactly. The DP is my all time favorite, Basic Grey Urban Prairie!

Stamps: A Little Birdie Told Me Paper: Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, GinaK White, BG Urban Prairie Ink: Black Accessories: Scallop Border Punch, Nestabilities, Paper Piercer, Ribbon

Beach Time!

We made it to the beach today. It was a little cooler than yesterday but that did not stop the Spring Breakers that have descended upon us, from getting in the water and enjoying the sunshine. This picture is taken just east of Fort Pickens. Isn't the water just beautiful? Bill told me his hat "was a good fit". I asked him if he meant, it fit well on his head or, it fit his personality? It was definitely the personality!! He is like no other. Makes life interesting and fun!

My last picture is of a Seagull perched on a very skinny pole. He was making a racket up there. Every time he sang, his neck jutted out and his body shook. Not sure how he kept his balance!!

Have a great week everyone!

Featured Stamper *Beate*

This card is for today's SCS Featured Stamper Challenge. It's the one and only "World Famous *Beate*!!" She has so many beautiful cards! I had the honor of meeting Beate when we both took the Copic Certification class together. She is from Germany and I could sit and listen to her talk all day. Her accent is wonderful. Not to mention her cards! After looking through Beate's gallery, I finally chose this one as my inspiration piece. I wanted to give the heat embossing a try as it has been a long time since I used this technique. I changed the stamp set, colors and layout for my card. I stamped the heart and embossed (twice), then sponged the heart first with Creamy Caramel and then Baja Breeze. These colors go so well with the Marrakech paper! Now that I am caught up with posting "most" of the cards I finished this week.... I am off to the BEACH with Bill to relax and soak up some sunshine! I will try to take some pictures as it is just beautiful (and warm) outside. Enjoy your day and upcoming week!

Another Double Challenge Card

This card is for yesterday's SCS Inspiration Challenge, "Little Daisy Design" and this weeks, My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge hosted by Cindy Haffner. My inspiration for the card is found here. I wanted to use Flopsey, so I pulled out a print from Basic Grey Urban Prairie (one of my all time favorites!) that had the same colors and feel as the dress on the Little Daisy Designs website. I used Cindy's MFT Sketch for the card layout and colored the Flopsey image with Copics. The sky is done with a cloud template and chalk. The inside sentiment says, "Wish you could keep me company." When my Mom and I are visiting together we are always having a cup of tea. I would send this card to her, but I sure don't want to make her cry!! Love you Mom!! Hope you like it!!

Soft Iris for Two Challenges

Well... it looks like I have a thing for Wednesdays and Sundays for posting on my blog! I bowl three nights a week and work a full time job. Guess you all now know that those two days of the week are when I don't work, bowl or run errands! Am looking forward to the next month when the fall bowling leagues come to a close. It means I get prize fund money and more free time! This card is for this weeks Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge to use ribbon and, the SCS Limited Supply Challenge using "soft" colors (like the SU Soft Subtles). The focal image needed to be a flower. This Flourishes Siberian Iris was one I started on at our Copic Certification class. It just so happened the color I chose matches SU Almost Amethyst! I punched the Amethyst panel with a Martha Stewart Border punch. (A technique we learned from Becca at the Flourishes Stampers Dream weekend). The white layered square is stamped with the Flourishes newly released Ornamental Elements set. The ribbon was in my "stash", one that I had picked up in the dollar spot at Michael's. It matched perfectly!!

Simple Things

This card is for today's SCS Sketch Challenge. When I attended the Flourishes Stampers Dream weekend a few weeks ago, I saved scraps of the Urban Prairie paper that we were using. Love that paper!! For this card I brought those scraps out and used the Flourishes brand new release, Timeless Quotes.

Puppy Wishes

This card is for today's SCS Color Combo Challenge Krafty Riding Sun. I pulled out a Greeting Farm Stamp set that I have been wanting to ink up. The couch reminds me of bringing home a new puppy many years ago and the puppy got mad because I left her alone. That puppy found everything of sentiment to me and destruction ensued!! The image is colored with Copics and I added white fun flock to the stuffing that is coming out of the couch. I recently found the paw print ribbon at Hobby Lobby and knew it would get used with this stamp set. Hope you like it!

Today's SCS Featured Stamper Challenge

It has been over a week since I had time to participate in a SCS challenge. I put aside my St. Patrick's goodies that I am making for my staff at work to do the Featured Stamper challenge today. Stacy (TwinsHappy) has a lot of inspiration to choose from in her gallery. You can find her gallery here. When I do Featured Stamper challenges I try to find inspiration that enables me to pull out a stamp set that I have not used often or have not used in quite some time. It has been a long time since I used Fishy Friends. I chose Stacy's card here as my inspiration. I kept the layout the same and changed the paper colors, the ribbon to ric rac, the gemstones to rain dots and added a fun sentiment.

Recipe: Stamps: Fishy Friends Paper: Scrappin Creations Power Pad, GinaK White Ink: Black Accessories: Copics- BG10 BG15 C3, RicRac, Rain Dots

Club Anya Sketch 2 Challenge

This card is for the Club Anya Sketch 2 challenge. The sketch found here is a tall card. Something I am not used to making. So...I stretched my imagination and made a Shoji screen by scoring white paper on the Scor-pal and adding black strips of paper for the frame. Her "bamboo mat" is cut from a wood strip panel I picked up at a rubber stamp convention many years ago. I "stained" the wood with with an E31 Brick Beige Copic. The print paper behind the screen is Hero Arts Japanese Origami paper. Geisha and the flowers are all colored with Copics. A fun challenge!! Recipe: Stamps: Greeting Farm Geisha Anya Paper: Perfect Plum, Black, White, Hero Arts Japanese Origami Ink: Black Accessories: Copics V01 V12 V15 C1 C7 Black 100 R00 R27 G24, AtYou Spica Red and Clear

Clover Dog

This card is one of my St. Patrick's Day cards. I lovingly call this guy "Clover Dog"! He is an image by Victoria Case Designs. Her style is all about fun and the lighter side of life. Something that calls to me. Life should always be infused with fun and laughter! On a sad note... I do know that Victoria's mother passed away a couple of days ago. She has gone through quite a bit with the hospital and the treatment of her mom over the last few months, but she did say her mom entered into hospice and a few days later passed peacefully. If you have the opportunity to send Victoria an email or say a prayer for her and her family, please do so. You can find her here. Lucky (my Clover Dog) is colored with Copics and a layer of glittery "atyou Spica" on the clover in clear and hatband buckle in gold. I used Spellbinders Nestabilities and Martha Stewart border punches, a touch of ribbon with a Cuttlebug Slide Tag and popped up the layers with pop dots. The sentiment on the inside of the card says "I've got you". Hope you like him as much as I do!

Recipe: Stamps: Lucky by Victoria Case Paper: Two Busy Moms, GinaK White Ink: Green Galore, Black Accessories: Copics, MS Border Punch, CB Tag Die, Ribbon, Pop Dots

Hint of Spring! A Non-Card Post...

We have only lived in our house since last May and it is wonderful to see all the things that bloom in the yard as we get closer to Spring! It is supposed to be near 78 degrees this Saturday. I am so looking forward to the warmer weather!
I thought I would share a few pictures of the wonderful nature we have right in our own backyard. The white and pink flowers are azalea's. (The pink are really purple in person....) I am used to Tennessee azalea's where the flowers are a lot smaller. The last picture is a close up of a beautiful Camilla bloom.
Enjoy!

SCS Color Combo and Sketch Challenges Combined

Since Saturday I have been going like a whirlwind! I made a couple of cards that I will post later but wanted to post this card I completed for the SCS challenges. The Color Combo Challenge was Pink Passion, Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip. This color combination was definitely a challenge! In fact I started working on a card Monday night and ended up throwing aside seven different ideas and finally gave up for the night. Came back last night and the Sketch challenge gave me new inspiration. I spent quite a bit of time arranging and re-arranging the colors on the sketch before I found something pleasing to the eye.
Do you have a certain way that you start working on a card? Stamp set first? Paper first? I do not have a particular way. This time I had pulled out the MFT Tea for Two stamp set and worked with it.
The teacup dots are filled with Crystal Lacquer and the bunny tail is done with white fun flock. Love that stuff!! The green layer, teacup and bunny are all popped up with pop dots to give some dimension.
Such a fun stamp set to work with!
