Crazy4Challenges~ Trees

Happy Saturday!!
Hope you are off to a good start with the weekend. My daughter and fiancee are visiting and we spent last evening down in the city. Logged a lot of steps in the Crescent City!

Danielle is our hostess today and she says...I'm a big fan of trees and over the last handful of years I have planted 6 apple trees around my house. My challenge to you is to plant a tree, er, well, just include a tree or branch on your project. That might be easier. ;)

For my card I wanted to try the foil technique that I had seen a few weeks ago on Jennifer McGuire's blog. Outline stamps are probably better for this technique but I thought my "tree" turned out nice. Just stamp the image with versamark ink and emboss the image. Place the foil on top of the embossed image and run through a laminator. Thats it!

This photo is shot at an angle trying to get a little bit of the shine.

This one straight on. I love the new Cucumber Crush color from SU!

If you decide to play along with us upload your card/project to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C292. Don't forget to link it on Inlinkz on the Crazy4Challenges Blog, so that everyone else can see it too. Go check out what the Crazies came up with this week!

Here Comes The Sun...

Good Tuesday Morning!!
My week has gotten off to the typical busy start. Work is...well work.... lol.

I decided to start with an art journal page for today's SCS Color Combination Challenge. I have been dabbling in mixed media here lately and love doing art journal pages. My theme for this one is a favorite old song by the Beatles. (showing my age here, ha!).  I have found Vicki Papaioannou on YouTube. Love her art journal pages AND her accent. :-)

I applied gesso to the page and then used a turquoise gelato for the background. The sun stencil is sponged with yellow paint and the clouds applied with modeling paste. The Crazy Birds are colored with Copics and highlights added with a gel pen. I used a PITT pen to shade around the birds to give some depth to the page. Lastly, I used the Tim Holtz Bubble layering stencil to add some dots with White Distress Paint.

I will be back tomorrow with my card for the Color Challenge.
Enjoy!

Crazy4Challenges~ Masculine Touch

Happy Saturday!!

Let's get the weekend going with a challenge from Danielle. She is our hostess this month and she says.."With Father's Day just around the corner lets make a masculine card. Whether it is colors, textures, or stamps include a masculine touch."

I pulled out a favorite masculine stamp and used a technique I saw on YouTube. I took three colors of Distress Paints and dabbed on my stamp. Spritzed with just a little bit of water and stamped the main panel. I love how the mix of paints look!

If you decide to play along with us upload your card/project to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C290. Don't forget to link it on Inlinkz on the Crazy4Challenges Blog, so that everyone else can see it too. Go check out what the Crazies came up with this week!

Crazy4Challenges~ Sunshine!

Happy Saturday!!
The sun is shining here and it is warm, warm, warm! My kind of weekend weather!

It is time for the C4C challenge and Danielle is our hostess this month. She was thinking the same thoughts as me! She says...

"This time of the year the sun finally comes out in full force. To celebrate, include a little sunshine on your project. Sun images, lots of bright yellow or your favorite sun ray folder/die cut would all work."

I was working on a journal page this past week and tried to finish it for this challenge but that wasn't happening with my busy work schedule. So I reverted to making a card. The background was sponged with distress inks. Then, I colored some modeling paste with a re-inker and used the sun ray stencil over the background.

f you decide to play along with us upload your card/project to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C289. Don't forget to link it on Inlinkz on the Crazy4Challenges Blog, so that everyone else can see it too. Go check out what the Crazies came up with this week!
